Violist and Philharmonic Chamber Soloists Founder, Katherine Greene
A member of the New York Philharmonic since 1990 Katherine Greene enjoys performing as recitalist and chamber musician as well. Founder of the Philharmonic Chamber Soloists, she is also the Executive Director of the celebrated Fabbri Chamber Concerts series on East 95th Street, held in a Renaissance library in the Fabbri Mansion. New York Philharmonic musicians appear regularly in solo profile at her invitation.
A popular recording artist, Ms. Greene regularly participates in studio recording for film and television scores. She has recorded for CRI and Musical heritage Society and produced ‘Strings in Swingtime’, an album of American string quartet music with the Philharmonic Chamber Soloists that was released on the Bridge Records label.
As a teacher she has served on the faculty of the Westchester Conservatory, where she developed a successful chamber music program for adult amateurs. Ms. Greene specializes in orchestral coaching and performance psychology, and her students have won positions in various orchestras, music festivals and conservatories.
A native New Yorker, Katherine Greene actually began her career as a piano soloist, teacher and accompanist before switching to the viola at the Juilliard School, where she earned her master’s degree in performance. Former posts include Assistant Principal Violist/New Jersey Symphony (1987-90) and several seasons with the New York City and Santa Fe Opera companies.
